On average, people spend around 12 hours a day in front of a screen. Now we’re no entertainment expert, but we do know a thing or two about the effects that come from that weekend-long Netflix binge. Let us start off by saying we are not here to stop you and your girls-night-in; we are here to encourage you to live your best life (even if that means watching a whole series overnight) while maintaining beautiful, healthy skin.

Taking a few hours out of your day to watch television is a practice many of us are no stranger to and while it can be very therapeutic, it can have some long-term consequences. As you know, UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis, the skin’s thickest layer, where UVB rays burn the outer layers of your skin. However, there is another part of the electromagnetic spectrum -- blue light -- that can cause damage to our skin over time. Blue light (also known as high energy visible light, or HEV) is a strong light that emits from televisions, cell phones, computer screens, as well as from fluorescent and LED lighting. Studies suggest that HEV reaches down to the dermis, causing skin damage and skin-related illnesses similar to UVA and UVB.

While this can seem intimidating, do not let blue light stop you from grabbing your bowl of popcorn and parking it on the couch. While we have a deep love for getting active in the outdoors, we, too, have an appreciation for those days where all you want to do is click “Play Next Episode.” Say goodbye to guilty and hello to pleasure! To champion this couch adventure, use our Organic SPF 30 Full Spectrum 360° Sun Silk Drops designed to protect you from beach to boardroom and everything in between. Our SPF 30 Sun Silk Drops make a great addition to any skincare routine. It utilizes classic chemical actives to provide broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, as well as key ingredients Liposhield, Elix-IR, and Lightwaves Defense Plant Stem Cell Cultures to provide protection from HEV blue light and infrared heat caused by digital overexposure.
